Vol. 136 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Cloakroom Facilities.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received proposals from the Dublin Corporation for improved and additional female cloakroom facilities in the centre of the City of Dublin; if he has sanctioned the proposals and, if so, when.

The corporation were informed on the 13th November last that their proposals for the provision of these facilities in the central city area were approved in principle. They were requested to give further consideration to the question of location and their views on this point are awaited.

Mr. A. Byrne

Is the Minister aware that the corporation cannot get any other location for these facilities and the whole corporation, 45 of them, and all their officials have agreed that the site selected and sent to the Minister is the most suitable site for the purpose? Will the Minister reconsider the matter and allow them to proceed with the provision of these cloakroom facilities?

It is not a question for our consideration now. I have told the Deputy that we have approved in principle of the proposals of the Dublin Corporation. We have made certain suggestions which we are anxious that the corporation should examine. If it is found, on examination by the corporation, that our suggestions are not feasible, and theoriginal proposals are the only ones they could make, let the corporation say so, and the matter then can be approached from the new angle.
