Vol. 136 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Offaly Postal Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the delivery and collection of mail at Pollough Post Office, Tullamore, County Offaly, are regarded as unsatisfactory; and, if so, if, with a view to improving the limited services now being provided, he will consider having the Turraun and Leamore areas, now under Ferbane and Gloghan Post Offices, respectively, amalgamated with Pollough to form a unit for delivery and collection purposes.

I do not consider the delivery arrangements in the Pollough area unsatisfactory. I find, moreover, that it would not be possible to afford a later collection from Pollough sub-Post Office without incurring considerable expense, which would not be warranted by the small amount of correspondence posted at the office.

A revision of the arrangements in the area on the lines suggested by the Deputy would not improve the present times of delivery and collection.
