A circular extending the upper age limit from 40 to 45 years for candidates for the office of assistance officer was issued to all public assistanceauthorities on the 19th November, 1952. The main purpose of this extension was to bring the age qualification into line with that applicable to analogous posts for which the Minister for Local Government is responsible.
