Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of State Cars.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of miles covered by each State car allotted to each Minister and Parliamentary Secretary from June, 1951, to latest date, and the quantity of petrol and oil used in each car during this period.

The information asked for in so far as it is readily available in respect of the period from June, 1951 to 31st December, 1952 is set out in a statistical table which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will be published in the Official Report.

The foregoing figures relate to the cars earmarked for the regular use of the Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries. Detailed particulars of the use made of relief cars are not readily available but during the period in question the total mileage travelled by relief cars, in the service of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries, was approximately 97,460 and petrol and oil consumption was approximately 7,200 and 130 gallons respectively
