asked the Minister for Local Government whether, having regard to the unemployment position in County Dublin, he will give favourable consideration to the allocation of a special grant from the Road Fund to the Dublin County Council for the implementation of plans for the improvement and realignment of certain portions of the Dublin-Drogheda road in accordance with the road standards laid down by his Department.

Dublin County Council have been notified of an increased grant from the Road Fund from £50,500 in 1952-53 to £64,600 for 1953-54, to which will be added the main road upkeep grant of 40 per cent. of approved expenditure. It is for that body to determine on what particularschemes the money will be spent. No detailed plans of the work referred to have been submitted to me by the local authority in question.
