Vol. 137 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Costings Committee.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the date on which the Milk Costings Committee finally decided on all the costing principles necessary to enable them to complete their investigations and report on the cost of milk production.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if and when the Milk Costings Committee decided whether or not to include interest on capital and managerial charges as items of cost, above the line, in the report on milk production costs.

I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission, to take Questions Nos. 60 and 61 together.

The position is that I have no further information on these matters beyond what I have already supplied to the Deputy in reply to his question on this subject on 26th February, 1953.

Is it correct to say that the Milk Costings Committee has not met? Can the Minister say whether they have been hiding or what is the position?

Mr. Walsh

I understand that the Milk Costings Committee have completed their deliberations on this question.

Mr. Walsh

Sometime before Christmas. I understand it will not be necessary for them to meet again until about May or June. I am speaking of the committee.

That is what I am talking about, too. I understand that they have evaporated more or less into thin air or have suspended themselves like Mohammed's coffin.
