asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will ascertain from the E.S.B. whether the rural electrification scheme will be extended forthwith to the Annascaul area in view of the very satisfactory result of the canvass made in the area last year and of the fact that the E.S.B. main line connecting Camp and Dingle is now passing through Annascaul.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Annascaul area will be considered for selection by the board in the near future, together with other areas in the board's Tralee district. I am unable, however, to give any indication as to whether it is likely to be selected or not as this is dependent on how its financial return compares with that of other areas in the district.
