Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospitals' Trust Payments.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state (a) the amount paid by the Hospitals' Trust to date since its inception to hospitals in (i) the whole country; (ii) Dublin City and County, and (iii) Cork City and County; (b) the amount paid in respect of deficits based on a three yearly average to hospitals in (i) the whole country; (ii) Dublin City and County, and (iii) Cork City and County, and (c) the amount of the deficit payment per occupied bed per annum in (i) general and (ii) special hospitals in Dublin and Cork respectively.

As the reply is in the form of a number of tabular statements, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

(a) The amount paid to hospitals from the Sweepstake Funds from the inception of the sweepstakes to the 31st March, 1953, was:—

(i) in the whole country

(ii) in Dublin City and County

£12.6 million

(iii) in Cork City and County

£2.1 million

(b) The amount paid in respect of deficits based on a three yearly average was:—
