Vol. 138 No. 10

Resolution No. 3.—General.

I move:—

That it is expedient to amend the law relating to customs and inland revenue (including excise) and to make further provision in connection with finance.

I move to report progress.

Progress reported; the Committee to sit again to-morrow.

I take it that it will be immediately after Questions?

I would assume so, but that is a matter that must be arranged by the Whips.

That is the invariable practice.

Not invariable.

Unless there is a technical matter.

I assume that the customary procedure will be followed.

It would facilitate Deputies if we knew that it would be taken at a particular time. I assume that it will be taken in accordance with general practice?

I have no reason to assume that it will not be taken.

If there is a technical matter to be moved before the Budget debate, we would not have any objection — particularly a technical matter such as the moving of the writ for Wicklow.

We could dispose of that very quickly.

Perhaps the Ministerwould tell us now, to-day. I am sure we would be prepared to facilitate you. Will you move the writ for Wicklow to-morrow?

Will you ask the Labour Party when they will move the writ for North East Cork?

It is your job.

Show an example.
