Vol. 138 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that a local and an official survey have been made of the Gneeveguilla-Ballydesmond area with a view to the installation of a rural electrification scheme; and, further, that a ground limestone plant is being established in Tureenamult in the district referred to; and, if so, if he will state the present position with regard to the rural electrification project.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Ballydesmond area, which includes Gneeveguilla, in which an official canvass of the residents has recently been completed, will be considered in due course for selection by the board. I am, however, unable to state when the electrical development of the area is likely to take place.

The board has also informed me that they would, in the normal course, have regard to the effect on the economics of the scheme of the establishment of a ground limestone plant in the area.
