Vol. 138 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of the Waterford Paper Mills and the Waterford Waste Paper Company at Granny, Waterford, (a) the total amount of Government money invested by either the Government or the Industrial Credit Corporation, (b) when these factories were commenced and the date they are scheduled to come into production, (c) whether the scheduled date is likely to be kept, and (d) the number of Irish nationals employed at present and also the number of non-nationals, indicating in the case of the latter whether they hold key positions due to technical skill that Irish nationals could not supply.

As the Deputy's question relates to the affairs of two private commercial concerns I am notin a position to give all the information asked for.

The company applied for and obtained, under the provisions of the Trade Loan (Guarantee) Acts, a guarantee for a loan of £200,000.

The company has been granted an employment permit in respect of one alien worker who is engaged in the erection of machinery.
