Vol. 138 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when the E.S.B. intend to proceed with their rural electrification scheme in the Donoughmore, County Cork, area.

Mr. Lynch

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Donoughmore area has been selected for development under the rural electrification scheme and that it is expected that construction work in the area will commence within the next few weeks.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what areas in West Cork the rural electrification scheme will be extended to during the current financial year.

Mr. Lynch

I have been informed by the E.S.B. that the Aghinagh area has recently been selected for development under the rural electrification scheme and that it is expected that work on the erection of the network in the area will commence shortly. I have also been informed by the board that of the other areas in West Cork which have applied for and are awaiting development under the scheme some have already been investigated and the others are awaiting investigation. Pending the results of these investigations it is not possible to forecast when the electrical development of the areas will take place.
