Vol. 139 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Hospitals.

asked the Minister for Health whether in view of the urgent need for hospital accommodation in Donegal he will redouble his efforts to have work commenced immediately on the construction of new hospitals at Letterkenny, Carndonagh and Dungloe.

Every effort will continue to be made by my Department to expedite the remaining steps necessary in connection with the hospitals mentioned by the Deputy.

May I take it that there will be early consideration and that the suggestion made earlier that the work may commence this year is a reasonable estimate?

Yes. I am told that as regards the County Hospital, Letterkenny, the plans are almost completed and that then tenders will be asked for.

That means about another two months?

Yes, I would say so.
