Vol. 139 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification

Mr. Crowley

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether there is a probability that an electric supply will be made available to the people of Kilglass area near Mitchelstown at an early date.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Mitchelstown area, which includes Kilglass, has been considered on a number of occasions for development under the rural electrification scheme but has not so far been selected. The board is unable to state when development is likely to take place, but adds that the prospects of development could be improved by an increase in the number of householders in the area willing to take supply.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will now state when the E.S.B. propose to extend rural electrification to the parish of Lixnaw, County Kerry.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that it is not possible at present to say when the extension of the rural electrification scheme to Lixnaw area is likely to take place.
