Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Institute.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he discussed the proposals for an agricultural institute which have been submitted to the Government of the United States of America with the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society, the Milk Suppliers' Association, Macra na Feirme, or any other body of agricultural producers; and, if so, when; and, further, if these discussions took place before the proposals were sent to America.

I have not discussed the agricultural institute proposals with any of the bodies referred to by the Deputy.

I wonder would the Minister, at some stage, be in a position to lay before the House details of the proposals made by him in regard to the formation of an agricultural institute?

Not at the moment. We do not know yet whether or not we are getting the money for the institute.

I appreciate that. I thought the Minister might consider making available to the House the details of the proposals he has put forward so that the House would have an opportunity of knowing whether these proposals——

It would be premature. As I say, we do not know whether or not we are getting the money to have the institute.

Surely it will be time enough when we come to deal with the matter.
