asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether in areas where the county council have agreed to increase the rate of pay of county council workers similar increases to workers employed in local State forests will be authorised to bring their rate of pay in line with the increased rates of pay of county council employees.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Council Workers' Pay.
Where the wage rate for the road workers in a particular county is increased a similar increase is made in the wage rate of the forestry workers employed at State forests in that county.
Will the Minister undertake as soon as possible to have the increases put into effect in the State forests at Mountrath, Durrow and Emo, in the County of Laoighis, in view of the fact that the Laoighis County Council has recommended an increase of 7/6 per week to the road workers in that area?
The increase is given automatically. As soon as we receive official information that it has been granted to the road workers, effect isgiven to the decision so far as the forestry workers in that county are concerned as from the date on which the wage rate of the county council workers is increased.
That is all I wanted to know.
