The first circular to public assistance authorities drawing attention to the unsatisfactory condition of many of the dispensaries throughout the country was issued from my Department on the 1st April, 1948. Further circulars were issued on the 5th November, 1949, and the 5th May, 1952. The latter circular offered a grant towards the cost of each new dispensary erected in accordance with the terms of the circular.
