andMicheál S. Ó Cinnéide asked the Minister for Defence if he will recommend to the Government that a sum of money out of public funds be allotted to the Irish Red Cross Society for the relief of those who suffered in the flooded areas.

I am satisfied that the funds already at the society's disposal are adequate for the relief of distress in the flooded areas.
I have ascertained from the society that it has investigated the position in these areas and has provided the relief considered necessary in all cases of distress, therefore the question of a further allocation of a sum of money from public funds does not arise.
