Vol. 147 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arbour Hill Memorial.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state what progress has been made in regard to the proposed memorial to the executed 1916 leaders at Arbour Hill; further, whether it is proposed, in the meantime, to mark the grave with a simple slab giving the names of the executed men.

Plans for a memorial scheme at Arbour Hill Detention Barracks, to commemorate the 1916 leaders who are buried in the prison yard, have been prepared. I am having them examined, and I propose to submit them to the Government for consideration when I have the examination completed. Pending the consideration of the general scheme, it is not proposed to proceed with the marking of the graves.
