asked the Minister for Lands if, with reference to the statement by the Minister for Agriculture in the Dáil on 2nd December, 1954 (Official Report, Volume 147, columns 1517 and 1518), in regard to the acreage of land in the hands of speculators, he will state whether the Land Commission propose to acquire such lands for division among deserving Irish nationals.

I am in communication with the Minister for Agriculture in this matter, and have asked the Land Commission to make inquiries with a view to acquisition.
Can we take it that in connection with these speculators in the Midlands a decision will be given by the Land Commission in time for tillage purposes next year?
It is too early to make a promise like that yet.
