Vol. 148 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) when he received from the Kerry County Council a tender for sanction for a housing scheme at Abbeydorney, (2) when he notified the county council of his decision, and (3) whether the contract documents have been completed, and, if so, when work on the scheme is likely to commence.

A proposal to accept a tender for the erection of six cottages at Abbeydorney was submitted to the Department by Kerry County Council on 26th July, 1954. As the tender proposed to be accepted appeared to be high the council were requested to reconsider the matter. Information in support of their proposal was received in the Department from the council on 2nd October, 1954, and approval to the acceptance of the tender was issued on 9th October, 1954. I understand that the deputy-county manager has been endeavouring to have the contract documents completed and the work commenced without further delay.
