Vol. 153 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Increased Prices of Christmas Trees.

asked the Minister for Lands why the price of forest trees sold this year as Christmas trees has been increased from 7d. to 2/- a foot.

The price of 2/- per foot mentioned by the Deputy does not apply to the normal size Christmas tree sold by the Department but only to special orders for trees over 30 feet in height. Such trees contain timber of commercial dimensions and it would be totally uneconomic to sell them at the rates appropriate to the smaller trees which have no usable timber content.
