asked the Minister for Finance if he has received a resolution from the Buncrana Urban District Council requesting that Schedule A income-tax assessments for Buncrana should be based on four-fourths instead of five-fourths of valuation as at present; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As to the second part, I regret I cannot see my way to introduce proposals for legislation on the lines suggested in the resolution; and I have already informed the Buncrana Urban District Council accordingly.
Would the Minister not reconsider the matter in view of the fact that there is a precedent in other cases for the adjustment suggested? It has been done in at least one other case where similar circumstances operated.
I am afraid I could not accede to the Deputy's suggestion.
