Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income from Land.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state, in respect of 1955, the total income from land in the possession of the Land Commission let for (a) wheat growing, (b) general tillage, (c) grazing, and (d) meadowing; and what was the average letting price under each heading.

The latest period for which returns of lettings are readily available is the 12 months ended 31st October, 1955. For that period particulars of lettings are as follows:—

Particulars of lettings for wheat-growing alone are not available and are included under the heading of General Tillage.

Against the total income of £79,200 there must be set outgoings of approximately £52,000, mostly on rates and interest on purchase money.
