The information sought by the Deputy is not available for the dates specified as the accounts of the Post Office Savings Bank Fund are made up only at the end of each calendar year. At 31st December, 1954 and 31st December, 1955, the total assets of the fund amounted to £81 million and £86.9 million, respectively. The amount invested in external securities at those dates was £27.8 million and £27.2 million respectively.
