Vol. 161 No. 9

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Orthopædic Hospital.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that the rates paid to physiotherapists at the Orthopædic Hospital, Cork, compare unfavourably with those of physiotherapists similarly employed by private institutions in Dublin; and whether he is prepared to sanction an increase for the former.

I have no functions in relation to the rates of remuneration paid to physiotherapists employed by private institutions in Dublin, but I am aware that in one such institution the remuneration paid is higher than that paid to physiotherapists in the health authority service.

The remuneration payable to physiotherapists employed by health authorities is of general application and I am not prepared to sanction a special increase for physiotherapists employed in the Orthopædic Hospital in Cork.
