Vol. 161 No. 9

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Health Services.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of the Dublin City and County health authorities the number of cases in which the discretionary powers of the officers of such authorities were exercised to allow services under the Health Act, 1953, to persons whose family income exceeds £600 a year.

The numbers are: Dublin City area—11; Dublin County area—Nil. In the Dublin City area this represents a majority of the applicants. No applications were received from the Dublin County area.

I just wanted to establish that there are discretionary powers in respect of the persons in receipt of health services whose families' incomes exceed £600 a year. Is that not so?

Yes, it is.
