Vol. 161 No. 9

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Budget Provision for Air Services.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount provided in the Capital Budget for the air companies for (a) purchase of aircraft, (b) the new city air terminal, and (c) development at Shannon for jet aircraft.

The particulars asked for by the Deputy are (a) £1.28 million approximately in addition to which the companies are expected to find £.18 million from their own resources; (b) nil and (c) nil. As regards (b), no proposal for a new city air terminal has been approved so that the question of making provision for it in the Capital Budget did not arise. As regards (c) no significant expenditure is expected to be incurred during the year 1957-58 on development at Shannon for jet aircraft.

Does the Minister suggest that no sum at all has been allocated in the Capital Budget for the new city air terminal?

Is the Minister aware there was a proposal on his table apportioning a certain sum for the inception of that service when he took office?

I am afraid that was not brought to my notice.

I will send the Minister a copy.

Is it not a fact that £600,000 has already been expended on an airport adjoining Dublin airport— Baldonnel?
