asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of items in respect of which import levies and customs duties were reduced or revoked since March, 1955, and the total c.i.f. value of such items imported for the years ended 31st March, 1956, and 31st March, 1957.
Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Revocation and Reduction of Levies and Duties.
There are 46 import items in respect of which customs duty or Special Import Levy has been reduced or revoked since March, 1955. Separate import statistics are not kept for 30 of these items and the task of extracting the import values from the relevant customs entry documents over the last two years would involve undue expense in these cases. In the case of the remaining 16 items, all of which were concerned with a revocation of duty or levy, import values for the two years have been obtained and are included in the tabular statement which I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.
The following is the statement:—
CERTAIN import items in respect of which customs duty or Special Import Levy has been revoked since March, 1955, and the c.i.f. value of such items imported in the years ended 31st March, 1956, and 31st March, 1957.
