Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Permanent and Temporary Civil Servants.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total number of (a) permanent, and (b) temporary civil servants on 31st March in each of the years 1932, 1939, 1949, 1952, and 1957.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the reply:—

Figures are not available to show the position on 31st March as the census of staff is taken at the beginning of each calendar year.

The information as regards numbers of civil servants is tabulated under the heads of established (pensionable) and unestablished (non-pensionable) staff:—
