asked the Minister for Defence if he will state (a) the name and address of each tenant who holds land from his Department on the portion of the Kilworth range and estate, known locally as Billerough, Kilworth, on eleven month, yearly, or five year tenancies, (b) the number of years for which each of these tenants has been in possession of such land, (c) the acreage and poor law valuation of each holding, (d) whether the tenant has to pay rates in addition to rent, and (e) the reasons for not handing over these lands to the Land Commission so that the tenants may enjoy the benefits of the Land Acts.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tenancies at Kilworth Range.
The answers to (a), (b), (c) and (d) of the Deputy's question are in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of An Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report.
As regards (e) the position is that the Land Commission has intimated that with one exception, the lettings in question do not appear to constitute tenancies to which the provisions of the Land Acts for the purchase of tenanted land apply.
I am, however, in communication with the Land Commission as to whether there is any alternative method by which these tenants might be brought within the provisions of the Land Acts.
