Vol. 161 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tubercular Meningitis.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the total number of admissions of tubercular meningitis cases to the Cherry Orchard and Clonskea Hospitals in (a) 1947, and (b) 1955.

In the year 1947 the total number of admissions of tubercular meningitis cases to Clonskea Fever Hospital was 15 and to Dublin Fever Hospital 46, a total for the two of 61.

In the year 1955, the figure for Clonskea was five and for Dublin Fever Hospital was 41, a total of 46.

The Dublin Fever Hospital now acts as a regional centre, for patients suffering from this condition, and a comparison of the figures I have quoted for the two years would, therefore, be misleading. The number of admissions from Dublin City only to the Dublin Fever Hospital in 1947 was 44 and in 1955 was 15.
