Vol. 161 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding of Mayo Farmer's House.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the home of Mr. Patrick Moran and his family at Owenwee, Knappagh, Westport, County Mayo, is in grave danger on account of flooding; and whether the Land Commission will arrange to give this farmer an exchange holding.

I understand that the difficulty in this case is not so much the danger from flooding as inadequacy of access. The question of providing a new bridge to afford improved access was examined by the Land Commission. This, however, did not prove feasible and alternative remedial measures, including the possibility of migrating the Moran family, are at present under consideration.
