Vol. 161 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Possession of Slige Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that possession was taken by the Land Commission on 27th March, 1956, of the untenanted lands, estate of Fahey, County Sligo (lands of Carrowneden, Coolaney), and that the former owner has proved perfect title to these lands, and, if so, if he will state when the land bonds and interest on them will be made available to the former owner, and the cause of the delay in having this matter disposed of to the latter's satisfaction.

Whilst possession of this estate was taken on the date mentioned, I understand that full documentary evidence of owner's title was lodged in the Land Commission only three weeks ago. There will be no avoidable delay as regards investigation of title and the subsequent allocation of the purchase money plus the interest which has accrued thereon since the date of possession.

Can the Minister say in how many cases are there unissued or unpaid bonds due in respect of untenanted lands acquired by the Land Commission in counties Sligo and Leitrim?

That is a separate question.

It is a separate question.
