Vol. 161 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing Site.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the date on which Kerry County Council acquired a plot of land for a housing site for a single rural cottage intended for occupation by Mr. William McKenna, agricultural labourer, Knocknaglough, Glashanoon, Lyreacrompane; (b) on whose advice the plot was originally selected; (c) the amount of rent charged to Mr. McKenna since the date of acquisition; and (d) if the plot has been reported to be unsuitable as a building site, and, if so, on whose recommendation the plot is being rejected; and (e) whether in view of the amount of rent collected for years past from Mr. McKenna, the plot will be now handed over to him without further charge so that he can take steps to erect a house for himself and his family.

I understand that the site is question was acquired by the county council in 1934. The other information requested by the Deputy is not available in the records of my Department. I have asked the local housing authority to submit the details required which will be transmitted to the Deputy immediately they are supplied to me.
