Vol. 165 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois-Offaly Deputation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state why he refused to receive a deputation of members representing the constituency of Laois-Offaly on a matter of great concern to the people of the constituency.

Since assuming office, no request was made to me to receive a deputation of members representing the constituency of Laois-Offaly as implied by the Deputy.

Is the Minister aware that I was present and listening to a Deputy of the Minister's Party telephoning to ask that a deputation be received concerning the Feather-stonhaugh estate, and is the Minister further aware that he wrote to the local papers stating that, under no circumstances, would he be prepared at any time to receive this, or any other deputation, concerning land division?

In reply to what the Deputy has just said, I received no request to meet a deputation.

The request was made to the Minister. I was present when the Fianna Fáil T.D.s for Laois-Offaly asked that a deputation be received.

I think the Deputy has been wrongly informed.

That cock is tired crowing.
