Vol. 166 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Staff Pension Funds: Tax Reliefs.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that employees who are contributors to staff pension funds of firms not registered in this country are not allowed relief from income-tax in respect of these contributions; and if he will introduce legislation to allow relief in these cases.

Contributions by employees to staff pension funds of firms not registered under the Registration of Business Names Act, 1916, are not allowed as deductions in the Schedule E assessments on the employees where the pension funds do not qualify for approval by the Revenue Commissioners.

With regard to the second part of the question, the Deputy will appreciate that I cannot say in advance what my Budget statement may or may not contain.
