Vol. 167 No. 1

Written Answers. - Limerick Corporation Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position regarding proposed housing schemes and compulsory purchase orders of the Limerick Corporation.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply on 20th March, 1958, to a similar question put down by him. Since then approval in principle was conveyed on 21st March to the development for housing purpose of the school site at Garryowen. On the same date the corporation were informed, regarding the proposed scheme at Well Field, that the lay-out plan submitted was not considered suitable and certain specific suggestions for the amendment of the plan were conveyed to the housing authority whose further proposals are awaited.

The position in regard to the other scheme and the compulsory purchase orders referred to in the previous reply is unaltered.

A proposal to erect 24 additional houses as an extension of the Island Road scheme was received on 5th instant and is at present being examined in the Department. A decision on this proposal will issue as soon as possible.
