Vol. 170 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Dromore River.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, pending the drainage of the Dromore river in connection with the scheme for the drainage of the Erne catchment area, a report on an interim scheme in regard to this river has been furnished to the Office of Public Works; and, if so, what action it is proposed to take in the matter.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. In view of the commencement of an engineering survey of the River Erne catchment area for the purposes of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, it is not proposed to carry out any interim works on the Dromore River.

As the Parliamentary Secretary is probably aware, at his suggestion I addressed this question to the Minister for Agriculture. I understand it has been transferred by that Minister back to the Minister for Finance. Am I to infer from the Parliamentary Secretary's reply that the scheme which it was the intention of the Minister for Agriculture to operate, ad interim, on the Dromore River, has now been abandoned?

I think the answer is "yes".

I do not see Deputy Mooney here to give me a hand.

Neither is the Minister here.

I would expect my colleague from Monaghan to give me a hand.
