Vol. 171 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rehabilitation Service for Disabled Persons.

asked the Minister for Health whether any progress has been made in the provision of a rehabilitation service for disabled persons.

As the Deputy is aware, the National Organisation for Rehabilitation has furnished me with an interim report on the question of the provision of a rehabilitation service. I have not yet arrived at any decision on the matter which is one of considerable complexity and which calls for careful consideration in the light of the very many social and economic factors involved.

Would the Minister consider publishing or circulating the report?

I shall, but there may be some difficulty about getting it printed at an early date.

Pending that, would the Minister consider giving subventions to the private institutions doing this work?

I would require notice of that question. I have to count the pennies as well.
