Vol. 171 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Rockingham (Boyle) Demesne.

asked the Minister for Lands what progress has been made by the Land Commission towards the acquisition of the Rockingham demesne, Boyle.

Such interest as the Land Commission had in relation to the agricultural land on this estate was purely on a voluntary basis and the negotiations which took place with the owner must be regarded as confidential.

Could the Minister say whether any results are likely to materialise in future with regard to this estate?

So far, there has been no progress.

Is the Minister aware that this estate is in danger of being purchased by a foreign combine? In view of the fact that investigations have already been carried out on it within the last three weeks, will the Minister ensure that the same position will not be allowed to arise in relation to it as arose in relation to the Mount Browne estate?

No information is available to me on that point.
