Vol. 171 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fish Prices: Boats for Dingle Fishermen.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the current prices paid by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at their main seaboard depots on the southern and western coasts for the several species of fish purchased from the local fishermen; whether there is a difference in prices between the various centres, and, if so, the cause of this difference; and if he will further state the specific current deductions made by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara from the proceeds of catches of fish sold by them.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the number of (i) canoes and (ii) mechanically operated boats applied for through An Bord Iascaigh Mhara for the use of fishermen in Dingle peninsula during the financial year 1957-58 and during the six months ended 30th September last, (b) the number of boats in categories (i) and (ii) completed and delivered to the applicants during both periods, and (c) the number of orders which were received, approved and are now awaiting delivery for which contracts have been placed.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 35 and 36 together.

As the particulars sought are of detailed nature concerning the day-to-day operations of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara, I am asking the board to supply the information to the Deputy.
