Vol. 171 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Division Regulations.

asked the Minister for Lands whether regulations will be made or legislation introduced so as to permit uneconomic or other deserving applicants who reside more than one statute mile but not more than three miles from an estate about to be divided to qualify for consideration.

For the economic and proper working of an allotment it is desirable that it should be within a reasonable distance of the allottee's residence. Such distance has been accepted as about one mile in the case of an enlargement and about half mile in the case of an accommodation plot. It is not proposed to alter these requirements. In any event, if the proposal was adopted, it would only add to the number of applicants for a particular estate without making the task of the inspectors any less difficult.
