Vol. 171 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the names, location, acreages and date of possession of the estates in County Wexford at present held by the Land Commission; and approximately when each estate will be divided.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a previous question on 10th June last. In addition to the estates mentioned on that date, the Land Commission also have on hands the recently acquired estate of Somerville comprising 307 acres at Ballyharran Upper and Tikillin, situated about 4½ miles north-west of Wexford. It is not possible at present to state precisely when each of the estates will be distributed but I am hopeful that it may be possible to allot an area of some 800 acres in County Wexford during the remainder of the current financial year.

The Minister could not say what estates would be included in the 800 acres?

I am afraid I could not.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have yet acquired the Breen estate, Ballincash, County Wexford.

Negotiations for the purchase of this estate have concluded and arrangements have been made by the Land Commission to take possession early in the New Year.
