The Deputy will appreciate that the number of staff employed in any Department varies slightly from time to time, e.g. when a vacancy occurs it may not be filled immediately. He may take it, however, that the staff complements provided for in the Estimates Volumes for 1954-55 and 1958-59 represent, substantially, the number of personnel serving at the commencement of each of the financial years.
The Estimates for 1954-55 provided for a staff complement of 249, including Oifig an Árd-Chlaraitheóra. The Estimates for 1958-59 provide for a staff complement of 242.
