asked the Minister for Health if he will state from whom the property known as Mount John, Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow, was purchased by the Royal National Hospital for Consumption for Ireland, Newcastle, County Wicklow; the date of the purchase; the amount paid; the source of the funds to meet the purchase and whether it was under the control of the Minister; whether the property is still in the possession of the Royal National Hospital Committee, and, if not, how it has been disposed of; and, if sold, what price was obtained, and how the moneys have been accounted for.

The property known as Mount John, Newtown-mountkennedy, County Wicklow, was purchased by the Royal National Hospital for Consumption for Ireland from Dr. Patrick McCartan in May, 1948. The purchase price was £10,000 towards which a grant of £7,500 from the Hospitals Trust Fund was made by the Minister for Health. In addition, expenditure amounting to £1,441 on legal fees and certain alterations, improvements and additions was met from the Hospitals Trust Fund.

The hospital authority sold the property in July, 1955, for a sum of £7,000. The net proceeds of the sale, £6,622 4s. 8d., i.e. the sale price less auctioneer's and solicitor's fees (£245 5s. 9d. and £86 18s. respectively) and apportionment of Land Commission annuity (£45 11s. 7d.) were lodged to the credit of the Hospitals Trust Fund in November, 1955.
