I cannot say when the scheme referred to by the Deputy will be proceeded with. So far as I am concerned the position remains as stated in my reply to a similar question asked by the Deputy on the 15th July last. I understand, however, that the corporation has now completed the work on referencing, etc., which is a preliminary to the acquisition of the land and other property involved.

A provisional Order granting power for acquisition of certain property for the widening of the street was made by me on the 2nd May, 1958.
A number of petitions praying that the Order shall not become law without further inquiry have been presented to the Circuit Court. I understand that the petitions have not yet been heard.
