Vol. 172 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Satchwell Estate.

34.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position in connection with the Satchwell estate, Creggs, County Galway; whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring it; and whether it has been acquired, and if not, why, in view of the fact that there are many uneconomic holders in the immediate vicinity.

This estate has recently been inspected by the Land Commission who have decided to institute proceedings for the acquisition of a portion of the lands. This decision has been communicated to the owner and the relevant statutory notices will be published at an early date. Pending the completion of proceedings, however, it is not possible to indicate what the outcome will be.

Proceedings were instituted in that case three years ago. What has happened since?

There was a delay.
