Vol. 173 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Migration from West Cork Islands.

9.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to deal with applications for migration from island residents in West Cork.

The Land Commission have no proposals for the migration of further residents of islands off the west coast of Cork to the mainland.

Was it not made clear by the Minister's Department that no such proposals would be entertained and the one's on hands were all disallowed?

In reply to the Deputy, some persons were migrated from one island.

Was it not made clear then that no further applications would be considered?

That was the case, yes.

The purpose of my question is to get the Minister to change his mind. Will he say now whether he intends changing his viewpoint in relation to not accepting applications from these islanders?

I shall bring the matter to the attention of the Land Commission.
