Vol. 177 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of County Cork Estate.

36.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Bowenscourt Estate at Kildorrery, County Cork, has been recently sold, and that adjoining smallholders who have been renting land on this estate, have been asked at short notice to remove their stock, with consequent serious repercussions on their small farm economies; and if any proceedings have been taken for the acquisition and division of this estate among the adjoining smallholders.

37.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of reports that the Bowenscourt Estate at Kildorrery, County Cork, is to be sold; and if in view of the many uneconomic holdings in the area the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring this estate.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 36 and 37 together.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for acquisition of this estate, which contains a substantial residence, but they are having inquiries made in the matter.
